Security agencies in several Western countries have demolished the online platform used to buy and sell hacked and stolen personal data of millions of people.
Authorities said RaidForums had sold hundreds of sensitive databases, including credit card and social security numbers and bank account information, hacked or stolen from victims.
The platform’s founder and chief administrator, 21-year-old Diego Santos Coelho of Portugal, was arrested in January in the UK.
The RaidForums site, founded in 2015, offered a special approach and features to those who were willing to pay membership fees, and the platform posted instructions on how to commit illegal acts, officials said.
Agencies from the United States, Great Britain, the EU, Germany, Sweden, and Portugal took part in the operation to bring down the platform.
